Perpetrators often consist of family members, friends, and acquaintances
94% of all victims know their perpetrators;27% of the victims were maltreated by the mother;17.1% of the victims were maltreated by the father;21% of the victims were maltreated by both parents; and14.3% of the victims were maltreated by a non-parent.
In Florida alone, it is estimated that in 2010 there were about 51,920 children who were victims of child abuse or neglect.
